Over thirty thousand years old the Hironeian bloodline has been protected by there faith in Hiro, their god and savior and by the nation’s tenacious, highly trained, and disciplined military force. Hironeidon is said to be the most fortified nation in the world, hiding behind its massive forts, walls, and temples. The spearhead of the Hironeidon military are the Knights Templar, a Special Forces unit as well trained in military tactics as they are in their religion.
Hironeidon is a nation that enjoys many freedoms when it comes to life, but an outsider would first have to gain the trust of the nation to even glimpse it. Stories abound of the week long parties, orgies, and mass hedonism, and use of mind altering drugs. Trade both in and out of Hironeidon is heavily restrictive and a would-be merchant must spend countless hours to gain the trust of the trade commission to even get the lowest level of clearance to sell inside Hironeidon. Even with these heavy prices to pay to open trade millions try constantly because Hironeidon is one of the wealthiest nations on the planet.
The government of Hironeidon has changed little over the nation’s long life. A counsel of elders still meets to discuss major issues and pay rule over the nation lead by a Chancellor voted into position by the people. Many of the more minor tasks have been delegated to staff placed in positions by the elders.

Armor

Armor Protects the user from taking the full amount of damage from an attack. This is a fantasy world where Magic and Technology collide. The world is dominated by Megacorporations (Megacorps), massive business conglomerates that run many of the worlds largest industrial complexes. The Megacorps rival entire nations in size and power, they even posses their own military grade armies. Some Megacorps are actually independent countries that have bound all resources under a single umbrella of influence. That is the way of the business world.

War is a common thing in this day and age. Large wars dot the world as countries and Megacorps fight for resources, land, and many other things. Many of the Megacorps hire mercenaries (Mercs) to do their shadow and illegal jobs, as apposed to sending in their own military forces, which has created an entire new type of business, the Merc Contractor. These guns for hire, or as some call them Contract Killers, will do just about anything who is willing to meet there price. They serve no allegiance to any Corp or Country. They are among the most deadly people on the planet. As the Mercs grow in number so to does the industrial giant that feeds them the needed gear to complete there missions. Guns, armor, cyberware, and a million types of military grade gear has hit the markets around the world to feed the Mercs needs. This has only made the world an even more dangerous place to live.

Many cities around the world are growing so fast that they have turned into City-States. These massive cities are almost always self sufficient and tend to set up their own governments once they reach a certain power level, breaking away from the country they use to belong to. This action is usually meet with military action and war breaks out as the fledgling City-State strives to go out on its own. Some succeed, some do not, and some are only left in total ruin. Mere ghosts of the cities they once were. Those that do manage to win the war and succeed from their former counties tend to attract many affluent people looking to gain power very quickly, and these new City-States have that power to give them. Business move in, Industrial complexes kick into overdrive, and a massive influx of people swarm to the promises of a better life.

The world is a dangerous place, are you strong enough to face it head on? No one is sure who exactly created it, or exactly how it works. Through the use of computers, one if able to connect with other people around the world. Though this seems an easy technology those who know the dark side of the Ether-Net tend to hold theirs tongues. The Ether-Net is much more then a system of computer networks communicating with one another to allow users to gain access to information and pass it along to other users. The Ether-Net is a portal into a complex, alternate plain of existence.

This alternate plain can be accesses in many different ways, many of which have been lost through time. The most common way is with a Computer or a Deck with a valid Avatar that is connected to a Node or Network. Most areas have Ether-Nodes that allow users to gain access to the Ether-Net. Others gain access by actually entering the Ether-Net through the use of magic or ritual. These beings are able to access the same information those that use a computer can with the added bonus of actually being able to travel through the Ether Nodes. Others still gain access to the Ether-Net in other ways.

Those that travel through the Ether know it to be a dangerous place. Becoming lost is very simple and finding your way from place to place safely is very difficult. Also, there are creatures that live within the Ether. These creatures are mostly nonviolent and pose little threat, while others will attack anything they see.

Computers & Decks

Computers are the most common way of accessing the Ether-Net. A Computer can communicate with a Network or a Server to gain access to information stored on Ethersites or other computers with shared files. Once on the Ether-Net a computer protects itself with an Avatar. The Avatar denotes the user with a picture and a name and a general mix of information the user would like other users to see. Computers play a major part in the everyday life of people around the world. Many large cities run on computers, their infrastructure is monitored and changed by computers without any user interface. Peoples homes are run by computers that maintain temps, conserve energy, and constantly search the Ether-Net for data their users have need for. Computers are the single most produced item in the world and outnumber sentient being almost ten to one.

With just about everyones life touched by the computer it is only logical that there be a dark side to the computer. The Deck, is basically the Anti-Computer. Everything a Computer is a Deck is not. Decks are made by and for hackers. A Deck can do things a computer cant without major modification. A Deck can handle many different Avatars running at the same time and is streamlined for offensive hacking. A normal computer cannot have more than one Avatar installed at one time and even if it did it would not be able to handle running more than one at a time without generating lag. A Deck however is built to handle the loads of many Avatars at once along with a large hard drive that can handle attack programs used for Hacking. A Good Deck in the hands of a skilled Hacker can disable just about any computer or small network, a team of hackers could disable a large network or small city, and a large hacker group could hold major cities hostage. This however is becoming more and more difficult as police agencies world wide are quickly catching up in the Ether-Net arms race and most Hackers are afraid to gather in large groups for fear of attracting unwanted attention.

Nodes & Networks

The Ether-Net in it's purest form is nothing more then intangible energies waiting to me manipulated and used. What connects the Ether to the Real world are magical devices called Nodes. A Node is a technomagical device that creates a connection to the Ether in its most base form, stagnant energy. Nodes are usually placed on Magical Leylines where they can tap into larger amounts of this stagnant energy. Once constructed a Node can stimulate the stagnant energy and give it a purpose, sending it to another node while it carries a small amount of data which the node magically places in the energy. A stream of energy can be sent from Node to Node carrying with it a large amount of data. Nodes are then attached to Networks which allows users and their computers to log in and send and receive data using the whole system.

Nodes are still being created and placed today by the TechoMagic Consortium (TMC). Around the world the Consortium is contracted to created and place a node for future use. A properly constructed and placed Node takes roughly a year to create and costs millions of Credits. The Consortium alone has the knowledge and the materials to create a legitimate Node. Many other organizations have tried to create Nodes but none were successful. Many believe they were sabotaged by the Consortium but no official link was ever established.

Avatars

Avatars are basically a program that helps the user interface with their computer more efficiently. An Avatar can be very basic or rather complex, there are millions of versions of Avatars that are sold on the market. The Avatar is also usually the identity one wishes to use while on the Ether-Net. The basic information an Avatar must have is a Unique Ether-Net I.D. code or serial number, A Picture, and a Name. Without these basic bites of information a computer cannot enter the Ether-Net without Hacking your way in. Avatars generally have many different customizations that change their appearances, voices, tones, and speech patterns to the users preference. Avatars can also be programmed to do many tasks on a computer while in the absence of the user such as doing advanced Ether-Net searches, Active Downloading, and other tasks that would usually tie up an operator for hours a day. Hackers usually create their own Avatars and they tend to be very complex. A complex Avatar is a badge of merit to a Hacker. Hacker Avatars tend to use their complex programming to speed up and help with Hacking tasks while hiding the presence of the Hacker on the Ether-Net. Most Hacker Avatars are illegal and are destroyed when found in secure areas of the Net.

Avatars hold three special jobs in the Ether-Net.
1. The most important job an Avatar has is to protect the computer they are attached to. Information on the Ether-Net is very complex and sometimes a Hacker can easily hide an attack program in a byte of information. It is the Avatar's job to constantly scan, filter, and destroy these types of programs from getting onto the computer. Also, Avatars need to be constantly seeking out other users and Avatars that would want to gain access to information on the computer they are attached to. Avatars prompt their user if they wish to allow another user to gain access to the computer and its information.

2. Avatars are the only way a user can identify him or herself on the Ether-Net. Billions of beings around the globe have access to the Ether-Net daily and each one has a unique Avatar that has been customized by its user. Avatars come in all shapes and sizes as the retail market for an Avatar program is alive and thriving. Millions of different types of Avatars are possible, only the creativity of the user limits an Avatar. Still pictures, animated pictures, flashing, scrolling, blinking banners are all types of Avatars created by their user to identify them of others. While the visual aspect of an Avatar can be very personal and unique many share common pictures downloaded for being popular or hip. The only aspect of an Avatar that can be the same as another is it's visual appearance. Each Avatar must have a unique name to be allowed on the Ether-Net. A series of letters and numbers along with a select few symbols can be used to create the name of an Avatar. The use of 1337 speak is very common when selecting an Avatar's name. Lastly, a unique I.D. or serial number must be added to an Avatar so it can gain access to the Ether-Net. These are almost always built into the Avatar program, but sometimes they are created by someone when they create a personal Avatar.

3. Lastly, the Avatar seeks out and gathers information and data while a connection to the Ether-Net is present. The user can type in key words in search engines on topics, events, or just about anything and the Avatar will find all information possible with the set filters and key words. Once the search is done the Avatar will present the information to it's user. This is different from doing a Manuel Ethersearch because the Avatar can be set with complex filters and longer sets of key words then doing a search. Plus, a major added bonus of having an Avatar do your Ethersearch is that an when it is set up properly it can use its built in artificial intelligence to do to find many related material on all topics you asked for in the original query. Also, Avatars can be used to preform Active Downloads. The difference between a normal download and an active one is that an active download will search out for other instances of the content you would like downloaded and simultaneously download it from many different sources. This drastically reduces the time to download large files but takes a little brain power to preform, which is an idea task for an Avatar and much more efficient.

Hacking

There is no abstract available for this page revision.

Armagon 'Isomaul' Drunglebound

There is no abstract available for this page revision.

Eddy Zero

There is no abstract available for this page revision.

J.
